Things to pack for your holiday in Sri Lanka – An island adventure awaits

Sri Lanka has consistently ranked as one of the best places in the world to travel to over the past few years. However, if you are hoping to visit, there are few recommendations of items to bring along with you to enhance your journey!

1

Bring some things for the adventure

Being a tropical island nation, Sri Lanka has a lot to offer in terms of adventure activities. This can range from activities like hiking, surfing, snorkelling and scuba diving all being accessible and close to each other. Therefore, bringing along a few gadgets like a sturdy GoPro, binoculars or an underwater phone case will certainly help you make the most out of your journey. They will be particularly helpful because being able to capture the moments and memories from your trip is likely to make it all last a lifetime.

2

Here are some essentials for your stay

Whether you are a well-seasoned traveller or this is your first excursion out into the world there are a few things that you should never travel without.
One of the most important things to bring with you is your travel insurance. While you do have to pay for an additional fee that is associated with this, the benefits that can be gained from this coverage is priceless.
Travelling with a good quality backpack is also an ideal way to ensure that all your valuables are kept in one place but also makes life a lot easier when travelling around, as opposed to having to drag around multiple bags of luggage.

3

Keep your toiletries close

Sunscreen is going to be a big requirement when you are staying in Sri Lanka. While there may be odd showers, for the most part, you can expect to run into some warm and sunny weather.
If you are staying at one of the Kalutara hotels such as the Mermaid Hotel & Club and your sunscreen runs out, it is recommended to speak to the staff to understand where you can restock from!

4

Build your wardrobe for the occasion

Given that being in Sri Lanka will likely bring you a lot of opportunities to go swimming, be sure to bring along plenty of swimwear when visiting. Another good tip would be to bring a pair of sturdy sunglasses to protect you from the glaring sun.
Additionally, there will always be an occasion for a fancy dinner so be sure to an appropriate night outing attire as well!

5

The electronics you should carry

Something that is going to make your time in Sri Lanka a lot easier, is to have a power bank with you at all times. When travelling there may not be many places where you will be able to stop to charge your phone. Therefore, having a heavy-duty power bank is sure to save you a lot of trouble!
Be sure to also carry with you an adaptor for wall sockets as these plug points may not be compatible with the items you are carrying.
