You have the itch to go hunting, but there are several things you need to consider before heading out to catch some game. Such a sport that involves guns requires everyone to maintain the rules so everyone is safe in the hunting grounds. Sometimes people neglect these rules, which lead to unnecessary accidents. Take a look at some of the main rules when hunting in Utah, and make all the preparations you need to follow them.
There are several hunter education courses that can be taken to gain certification. Hunting without certification is illegal because those without it are not completely aware of the rules and regulations. A certification course covers all the regulations in hunting, from gun safety to seasonal game.
Deer season requires that all hunters wear orange because it makes them visible t others. It is not safe to go hunting without one. An orange hat is required too. A hunter may bunker down or set up a tree stand, but it too must be covered in orange. There are some exceptions to this rule, like those who hunt waterfowl in the summer.
Some firearms are not allowed to be used while hunting, like any shotgun bigger than a 12 gauge. Yet, when hinting deer or bears it is required to have a more powerful rifle. Archery is allowed, but certifications must be obtained before bow hunting. Crossbows are also allowed.
This is actually a rule in many states, prohibiting all hunting on Sundays except for a raccoon, which can be carried over till around 2 AM Sunday.
Hunting dogs are allowed, but they must be fully trained before entering the hunting grounds. They can be trained on private property with common birds or rabbits. They can also be trained in special designated training areas during specified times.
