Beaches in Pattaya - Three ways to enjoy the sea and sand

A mere hop away from Bangkok, Pattaya is considered to be the place to be for party-goers. It is a part of Thailand that never rests and is home to some gorgeous beaches.

1

Pattaya beach

Taking the top spot among places to visit in Pattaya, the Pattaya beach is the main beach in the city. It is 4km of sand that stretches by a relatively calm ocean. Being located right next to the busy city itself, the beach absorbs most of its happening vibe. As this is extremely central, you will find a lot of people lounging about and trying to find a calm spot to relax on the beach. Making matters better is the range of water sports offered on the Pattaya beach, a highlight of which is parasailing. It is unparalleled by any other location in the vicinity. In the night, the same happening vibe continues but in the form of parties and clubs that materialise on the sand. If you want to party until the small hours of the morning, make sure to have accommodation at a place close-by like Travelodge Pattaya. You can easily hop from the beach right to your bed after a night of hard partying.

2

Samae beach

The Samae beach is located about 7km away from Pattaya beach and can be reached through a ferry or a speedboat. It is more relaxed than at Pattaya beach, although equally crowded. Being away from the city allows this beach to feel more like an island abode. Yet, you will be hard-pressed to find a bit of empty sand to put down your lounger or an umbrella. In fact, this is considered to be the busiest beach on Coral Island. The palm trees that line the beach and the golden sand give it the island feeling, but seclusion is hard to come by here. You can visit this place on a day trip with a group of friends. There are plenty of places to eat around the beach, and a cold beverage is not difficult to come by.

3

Wong Amat beach

Located off the beaten path, Wong Amat beach is not visited by many people. Being close to a rock outcrop, the sea is not suitable for water sports, which means that you will only find people who want to go for a relaxing swim visiting this place. This makes the beach ideal if you want to escape the crowds. Although unsafe for water sports, the sea is perfectly fine for a swim. You can even lounge on the sand and read or sunbathe. The sand is warm and inviting. The beach juts out to the sea to make a rocky outcrop with a couple of trees on it. This is a good place for a picnic or even reading. It also makes for great pictures, especially towards the evening when the sky turns different shades of red. As the beach is close to a local village, you will see a few fishing boats anchored on the beach.
