You had a great day at the lake: got a nice tan, finally succeeded in doing that water ski trick, and bonded with your friends and family. Before you go, though, there are few things you’ll need to take care of. Don’t leave the lake without marking off the items on this checklist, from putting on your boat cover to ensuring Utah’s waters and beaches look the same as when you arrived.
If you’re caught littering at a state water recreation area, you could be slapped with a fine. Pick up all the trash leftover from your picnic, making sure you don’t leave any food behind for animals to find. Help keep Utah’s lakes and beaches clean for you and others to enjoy.
Lakes and reservoirs in Utah that are infested or at-risk for Quagga and Zebra mussel infestations make it mandatory for boaters to wash and rinse their boats upon exiting the water. Doing so stops the spread of these aquatic invasive species to other recreational waters.
Don’t leave Utah Lake without your boat cover! You’ll need it to keep your boat safe during travel. Boat covers also protect from Utah winters, which can wreak havoc on boat interiors.
Be sure to pack all your tubes, water skis, etc. Don’t leave anything behind or you’ll be sad you did. Finding it again is not a guarantee, as your toys can easily be stolen or sink to the bottom of the lake.
You don’t want a thousand plus pounds slipping off your trailer at freeway speeds. It’s dangerous—not to mention expensive for future insurance costs. Protect your investment by safely securing it to your boat trailer.
