Vacation Beach packing checklist – For a fun-filled yet safe trip

Beach vacations are the best kind of vacations to have and if you plan and pack well, you will have a fun-filled vacation that is free of worry or any hassle. Following are a list of things you must not forget to take with you.

1

Accessories

These can mean a bunch of things depending on an individual's sense of comfort and taste. However, the basic accessories one must take on a beach vacation are a beach bag, a pair of slippers, sunglasses, reading glasses, and a large brimmed sun hat to keep your face out of the sunshine. This might sound like many things to carry around, but if you are staying at one of the hotels near the Colombo Airport the likes of Heritance Negombo, they provide a large beach bag or tote into which you can stuff all the said items.

2

Clothing

If you are travelling to a place like Sri Lanka, you already know it is a tropical country and will be expecting sunny days and warm evenings. Be sure to dress for the weather too. Thick clothing can make you uncomfortable and itchy while on a beach vacation, thus, stick to loose and blowy cotton garments that let your skin breathe even if you sweat. Do not forget to pack a swimsuit and a swimsuit cover-up along with your clothing!

3

Equipment

Some of the items that follow might not be necessary depending on the style of place you are going to be staying in. However, having things like extra batteries, a beach blanket, beach towels, toys, beach umbrellas, a DSLR or camera and flotation devices are always a good idea. If you are planning to venture underwater, then the flotation device will be extremely useful in keeping your devices afloat and out of danger.

4

Skincare Items

These items are necessary to have to avoid uncomfortable vacations in which you do not get to enjoy the golden sands because of some irritation or other. Carry aloe vera gel, antibacterial wipes, body lotion with SPF, deodorant, face cleanser, a first aid kit, insect repellent, lip balm, and sunscreen. Some hotels do offer mini toiletries to their guests, but if you are opting to stay at budget hostels or hotels, be prepared with even the basic necessities like a toothpaste and toothbrush.

5

Other items

A vacation by the beach is mostly filled with long walks, sunset views, and a lot of time in hand to get some of that reading done. Grab a book or two that you have been meaning to read for the past few months, and finish it while you lounge under a beach umbrella in one of the serene beaches in Sri Lanka. In addition, a thing to note would be to carry a notebook in which you have emergency contacts and address of hotel written in. You cannot expect to find charging points when out and about on a beach vacation, thus, having this information written down anywhere but on your smart phone will be a good idea.
