Top 10 kpop music videos that are worth watching

In this list I will rank my all time favorite kpop music videos! Some of the videos I've chosen because it tells a story or just because the layout and the colours are pretty.

1. Red Velvet 레드벨벳 '7월 7일 (One Of These Nights)' MV

And at last I get to present my favorite kpop music video... It is "One Of These Nights" by Red Velvet. I just think that this is one of the most creative videos out there. The director did an amazing work with this music video, the lighting, the colour scheme, the absolutely fantastic transitions and the the creative scenes makes it not just unique but also interesting to watch. I love how they use something to transition to the next scene, for example at 0.23- 0.27 they use a keyhole to go over to the next scene and at 1.52-2.12 a member opens a door to change to the next scene. I think that these transitions just makes the video so interesting and unique.
One thing I absolutely love is the ending where one member is walking through a corridor while the lighting is turning off and then goes into darkness. The scene is pitch black and in that moment a logo pops up and there the video ends. I guess the reason why I like the ending so much is because it's nothing you see in every music video, I would even say that it's a bit daring because it's pretty unusual. Just because of the unusual scenes and transitions and the fact that it's done so well , I felt that I had to put it at first place. I still feel unsure if we're going to get another music video like this ever again and I suppose that is why I treasure this MV so much.

9. Red Velvet 레드벨벳 'Dumb Dumb' MV

Red Velvet's music video for "Dumb Dumb" is visualy pleasing, fasinating and has a lot of colour coordination. In most of the scenes where the members are alone, the scenes are colour coordinaded. For example at 0.21 seconds you see one member who wears a blue blouse while the background is blue as well. Because of all the fun colours and the colour cordinating scenes it's absolutely one of my favourite music videos of all time.

7. Girls' Generation 소녀시대 'Lion Heart' MV

At 7th place we have Girls' Generation's music video for their 2015 song "Lion Heart". The thing I appreciate about this video is that it tells a story. It starts with a cute intro and then goes to the actual video which features a fictional lion that meets up with the different members. I think it's a really playful video that has a lot of cute moments which makes it feel more alive. I also like that both the video and the song has a retro feeling to it.

6. TWICE "What is Love?" M/V

Twice comes in at 6th place with their new music video for "What is Love?". The thing that I love about the video is all the references to well known rom-coms. The video has references from "The Princess Diaries" ( you can see this at 0.15 and 2.35 for example), "Romeo and Juliet" ( you can spot this at 1.06) and "La La Land" ( you can see this at 1.23). They do reference more movies, but these are the ones that I'm familiar with. Another thing about this video that I like is that they make it look like they are watching the movies that they reference, which makes the video feel more realistic in a way and definitely funnier since you see their reactions that they give.

5. NCT U 엔시티 유 '일곱 번째 감각 (The 7th Sense)' MV

At 5th place we have NCT U's music video for "The 7th Sense". The thing I love the most about this video has to be the lighting in the different scenes. The lighting they use makes the video feel mysterious and different. Another thing I appreiciate in this video is the sets of the different scenes, for example they use plants in some scenes and some cool "glass" effects that makes the video stand out much more. I mostly like this video because of the elements that makes just this video special and unique.

4. [MV] OH MY GIRL(오마이걸) _ WINDY DAY

This video is what I imagine when I think of spring. The landscapes in the video is truly beautiful. I just adore this video so much, the mixture of the scenes of the members and the nature is nothing other than perfect. Because they filmed it out in the nature , I feel that it makes the video calm and peaceful. I really enjoy the reference they use to a deer and deer antlers ( the scenes where you can spot these references are at 1.12, 3.41-3.55 and 3.58-4.02). If you look at other music videos of OH MY GIRL you can see more references to deer antlers and the animal itself , so I like that deer antlers is one thing that this group uses to make them stand out a bit more. Overall I just adore this video, not only that the scenes are so beautiful and calming but also that the video goes with the song really well.

3. EXO 엑소 'LOVE ME RIGHT' MV

The third place goes to EXO's music video for "Love me right". I feel that the video is directed in a way that makes it hard to take your eyes away from it. It has a lot of interesting scenes throughout the whole video, and I like the mixture of scenes with all the members and the scenes where there are only one member or just a few. For this video I would say that the best thing is the lighting, just because it makes the video more captivating and interesting to watch.

2. GOT7 "You Are” M/V

GOT7 comes in at second place with their music video for "You Are". Nothing much actually happens in the video, so instead it focuses more on the visual and to get beautiful shots. The music video was filmed in Hong Kong , which is a popular city to record music videos. There are many kpop groups/artists who have filmed their music videos in Hong Kong, for example SEVENTEEN's video for "Check In" features some of the exact same places that appear in this video. I really like that this video focuses more on the visual because it makes more peaceful to watch.

10. [M/V] SEVENTEEN(세븐틴) - 박수(CLAP)

At tenth place I start off with Seventeen's Clap. Even though the music video starts off a bit dark , the rest of the video is really colorful. The vibrant colors make the video very fun to watch. Because of the diffrent sets the video is more captivating and interesting. I feel that the sets and the colours makes it hard for anyone to look away.

8. [MV] 우주소녀(WJSN)(COSMIC GIRLS) _ 비밀이야 (Secret)

At 8th place I've chosen Wjsn's or if you prefer their other name Cosmic Girls' music video for Secret. The MV was released in August of 2016 and I still get so excited and fascinated over all the effects they use in this video. I love that it's so unique and innovative. I really like that they take use of their group name (Cosmic Girls) and makes a whole cosmic and spacelike concept for this and their other music videos.
