Non-Sightings of The Mythical British Worker

There is a prevalent view among many that there is an army of British workers waiting to take up jobs once the immigrants have left. Here are a few examples which show that despite rapidly declining numbers of immigrants since Brexit, jobs up and down the country remain unfilled while employers become increasingly concerned.

This is not anti-British! There are many hard working people (perhaps even the majority?) in the UK with strong work ethics who strive to do their best everyday in whatever role they find themselves in. The thing is, these people are already all employed.

Only 1 in 50 job applicants at Pret A Manger is British

Pret A Manger will struggle to staff its shops after Brexit because so few British people apply for jobs, according to its director of human resources. Only one in 50 applicants is British, peers investigating Brexit were told. The chain employs 110 nationalities and almost two thirds of its staff are citizens of European Union countries.
