This board does it all.. The combination of the dropped .25 inch aluminum deck. Type 3 aircraft anodized and low profile Kenda pneumatic tires, provides a lower CG (center of gravity) that feels perfect. The 'rise' at the deck ends permit a place to brace against the extreme acceleration this powerboard can produce. The deck flexes for a ride that feels alive, with uncompromised smoothness. The E-Glide GT has the fastest acceleration, and more torque, than any powerboard currently offered today.

Electric Skateboard Motor Buying Guide | ENERTION R-SPEC 6355 190KV
Since publishing the original article about 12 months ago I have done much more motor testing than ever before!
I have tested all the popular motors from the hobby shop & also most of my competitors motors, or at least motors direct from the factories they use.
I've tried.
- Ntm 5060 270kv
- SK3 6354 245kv
- SK3 6354 215kv?
- ALIEN 42mm
- Original Enertion R-SPEC 5065 245kv (same factory as Alien)
- Saite 6354 245kv.
- EMP 6354 190kv.
- EMP 6354 245kv
- EMP 6354 270kv
I do think the SK3 are OK for the price... but I have blown them up also.
I realised one thing after testing all these motors. Cheap = Rubbish.
Basically when it comes to manufacturing motors the cheaper the factory tries to make the motor the less quality parts they use. Or some things simply get left out completely.
Things that make motors cheaper
- Using low quality Magnets.
- Motor dimension tolerance (air gap size). Not building the motor with precision.
- Magnet retainer ring (often left out on cheap motors to save $1 or $2)
-
Stator metal quality. High silicone percentage stator metal is more expensive & it reduces losses. (Cheap motors get hot because of losses often due to low grade stator materials)
- Not using high quality chemically resistant, high temperature epoxy resins.
- Not using Quality enamelled copper winding.
- Not Doing computer controlled motor balancing & tuning.
- Winding via hand VS winding with a computer controlled machine.

BEST MOTORS FOR ELECTRIC SKATEBOARDS
Need Help choosing what motor to buy for your electric skateboard build?
Buying a motor for use on your eboard can be a difficult task.... there are a huge range of motors to choose from that in most cases will work to some degree on your powered skateboard. Some brush-less out-runner motors are cheap, some are expensive, some are huge, some are tiny....
The big question is:
What is the lightest motor that will offer the best performance at the best price?
Some people have the mentality of bigger is better, well in terms of top speed & torque you can easily have the fastest board flying up the steepest hill if your pumping insane amounts of voltage into an over-sized beast of a motor.... but honestly we want this to look like & ride like a real skateboard too.
So bigger is definitely not always better, going bigger is not an appropriate way to design an efficient electric vehicle. Your goal when building your eboard should be to create a simple, light weight, powerful and practical skateboard that has the power to meet your requirements without blowing your budget on electronic parts that are over kill & overweight.
Your system should be designed to perform at its peak (or just under), offer the best range to battery weight ratio and meet your real world expectations and also look like a really cool skateboard.
Now! do not forget the mechanical components in your drive train either! One of the most important elements of any well designed propulsion system is utilising the correct gearing ratio & reduction. Because every motor is different it is important to test it with a range of different
electric skateboard motor pulleys doing your tests using motor pulleys is by far the cheapest & easiest way to fine tune your eboard power output.
So after months of testing different gearing ratios & DC motors, I decided I would put two of the more popular outrunner DC motors to the test.
