Kama'aina means local in Hawaiian language and these are the places where locals and tourists share the same interest FOOD.

Sansei, Kihei

Sansei, Kihei

One of the best sushi restaurant on the island and also karaoke bar in the evening when you really want to go to Sansei. Best time to visit Sansei is Thursday true Saturday after 10PM. Half price sushi and good vibe is what you don't want to miss when visiting Maui. Dynamite Scrimp will blow your mind! You don't want to pass it. 

Life's a beach, Kihei

Life's a beach, Kihei

Life's a beach is not really a place to enjoy tasty food, but with great atmosphere and happy hour every day from 3 to 7, directly on spot to see most wonderful sunset with Mai Tai in your hand.

4

Geste schrimp, Kahului

Geste schrimp, Kahului

I love sea food and I have eat it in lot of places around the world. One thing is sure, no one for now (still traveling and searching for better scrimps) can get even close to Geste Shrimp truck. You will literally lick your fingers afterward. If you like medium spicy flavors you should go with Spicy pineapple otherwise Hawaiian Scampi will do the trick. The only con is you will wait around 30-45 minutes on your order, so plan it ahead and meanwhile you can jump to nearby mall.

5

Flatbread Company, Paia

Flatbread Company, Paia

For all pizza lovers, this is the closest you will get to Italian pizza! I live close to Venice, Italy (lots of pasta and pizza) and I can assure you this is best pizza place in Hawaii even do they put pineapple on it 

6

Paia Fish Market

Paia Fish Market

Right across the street from Flatbread there is my favorite fish restaurant in Maui. Acceptable prices for toooo many choices. Treat yourself while you can, because as tasty and fresh fish as you will get here… well I will leave it to you.

7

Braddah Hutts BBQ, Hana

Braddah Hutts BBQ, Hana

When you’re on most amazing road trip to Hana you will need to make a stop for food somewhere in between. After doing Hana road for numerous times and try every possible option I will give my YES to Braddah Hutts BBQ. There is not to many options but every single one is good one. But keep in mind that Hawaiians don’t like to work long hours, which means if you arrive after 2pm the door is closed.

8

Horhitos Taqueria, Kihei

Horhitos Taqueria, Kihei

If you are on tight schedule you should stop next to the gas station across Kalama beach park and have some tacos. I do not recommend having burger as you can figure out from their name, so if you stop tacos or Hawaiian plate is the right choice.

9

Grand Wailea, Wailea

Grand Wailea, Wailea

When you have your day off on this beautiful island of Maui you need to experience awesome champagne brunch at Waldorf Astoria Resort. For 50$ you can eat from open bar with variety of dishes and different sweets. Afterwards you can take advantage of the hotel pools and rest after amazing meal.

10

Kihei Caffe, Kihei

Kihei Caffe, Kihei

I will still the saying, but you just can’t go wrong t Kihei Caffe. Not the healthiest breakfast that you can get but for sure delicious one. Let me give you some tips if you have hard time deciding. French toast with macadamia nuts, Papaya delight or Cheese omelet for your first visit. One thing I would not order are pancakes, because they are just not worth it.

11

Foodland store

Foodland store

Why Foodland is on this list? Foodland is the place where everyone will find his own flavor of Mahi, probably most famous, iconic Hawaiian dish. So if you don’t want to spend fortune on dinner just try Mahi, go to the nearest Foodland and just get it.

12

Mama Fish House, Paia

Mama Fish House, Paia

For all those with deep pockets and the ones who won’t be back in Maui anytime soon. Visit one of the best seafood restaurants in USA with fishing crew and food so fresh that waiter can tell you the name of the man who caught the fish on your plate. This place is perfect for romantic dinners, proposals or nice evenings enjoying aloha movement in a restaurant next to the Pacific Ocean with seabreeze touching your face. Every dollar here is well spent.

13

Nalu’s, Kihei

Nalu’s, Kihei

I won’t lose too many words describing Nalu’s. This restaurant is the best for people who would like to enjoy diner while listening to live Hawaiian music over some candles on table. And the price is not bad at all.
