By 1928, the building had opened as a hotel and starting in July 1950 the building was to be reconstructed into an eighteen floor hotel, but that construction never began. Gabriel Largacha was the designer and Domenico Parma was the constructor. The hotel was later abandoned in the early 90s for more than two decades due to Bogotá River contamination.

Wonderland was an abandoned and never completed amusement park project located in Chenzhuang Village, Nankou Town, Changping District, China, about 20 miles (32 kilometers) outside of Beijing. Originally proposed by the Thailand-based property developer Reignwood Group, and designed to be the largest amusement park in Asia (to have covered 120 acres (49 ha)), construction stopped in 1998 following financial problems with local officials, while a 2008 attempt to start construction again also failed.

The two began to squabble over the superiority of each country, and after tiring of the lord extolling the ornate architecture of France, the Russian declared that he could erect a castle of equal magnificence in his own country. The Frenchman scoffed, and replied if he could build a castle as grandiose as the ones in France, he would come to Russia himself to see it.
