Although KONY 2012 brought to light the atrocities in Uganda, the campaign made it seem like a black and white situation, which is definitely is NOT. The situation in Uganda is extremely complicated, and there is no easy solution. Here are some useful videos and articles to help make people more aware of the situation in Uganda. Uganda Rising sheds light on a hidden war, raising awareness about long-ignored atrocities. This film is phenomenal if you want to find out whats really happening/happened in Uganda, it does not simply or gloss over the situation. Although it was made in 2006 it is extremely useful in explaining the civil war and political situation in Uganda.
When you watch this video please take into account that the Ugandan government also used child soldiers, and is also responsible for killing, raping, and destroying the lives of thousands. They are not as perfect as they make out to be in this video!

Americans should not have been surprised by Obama's recent announcement that he would send a small number of troops to Uganda. This is only the latest chapter in a feeble, decades-long U.S. attempt to take out Joseph Kony and his militia.
Nearly 70 million people have watched Kony 2012, but almost none of them have been Ugandans, since internet access in their country is spotty. Thus a charity held a public screening so that actual victims of the civil strife could see the video. The reaction? Extremely negative.
This is really useful when trying to understand why this video became such a viral phenomenon!
